Vacationing in Mexico doesn't mean you have to give up your theme park fun anymore. Latin America is home to some of the most beautiful "theme" parks in the world. While the term "theme park" in Latin America has a broader defintion than stateside, it still translates to fun...fun...fun. In fact theme parks here are perhaps among the most beautiful in the world, especially those in the Yucatan Region.

South of the Border you will find water parks centered on Mayan history and culture, snorkeling adventures, submarine rides, a movie studio theme park and even the popular Six Flags theme park icon is here. There are plenty of traditional type roller coaster rides to get your adrenaline rush in several parks but by in large most of the parks are water activity based.

There are even some simple entertainment complexes that include go-kart racing and gaming centers. Gamers will appreciate getting their fix even while vacationing South of the Border, they may even learn to pick up a few gaming terms in Spanish!

So if you are a kid or a kid at heart there's plenty of theme park fun to be had South of the Border.

This park is the only Six Flags Park in Mexico and a very important one for the country. It is located in the Tlalpan borough, on the southern edge of Mexico City. There are six roller coasters here, five of them steel and one wooden one. You will find the same Six Flags characters and themes carried on throughout the park as well as Mexican cultural themed attractions and food.

Mundo Divertido Parque de Tijuana (Fun World Park)
Located in popular Tijuana, Mexico. The city is renowned as "the world's most visited border city", located on the top of the northwest of Mexico, right on the border with California. The park is a family fun center featuring a rollercoaster, miniature golf, go- karts, children’s train, batting cages, video games, soda fountain and more. A treat for  the whole family.

Divertido - Mexico City
Located in the capital city this park features animal shows,  a fine carousel, water rides, go-karts and stage shows.

This park features over 30 rides, attractions and shows in four different themed areas. The park is sponsored by Coca-Cola with more park expansions planned for the future.

The Feria (Fair) is undoubtedly one of the most popular and famous places for kids in the city. It has a total of 56 rides, including the legendary Montana Rusa (rollercoaster), which dates back to the '60s. The admission price varies according to the package you choose. The Pase Magico (Magic Pass) is 15 pesos and gives you access to 30 selected rides. The Pase Ecolim (Ecolim Pass), gives you access to 53 rides for 70 pesos, and the Super Ecolim allows you to ride on all of the attractions, and includes lunch, and all for 145 pesos. Don't miss out on this, even if you're no kid anymore.

Parque Plaza Sesamo is the Mexican counter-part to Sesame Place the American theme park based on the popular childrens show Sesame Street.  Located in Monterrey, the theme park had its grand opening on October 12, 1995, and operates year round. In addition to roller coasters and other rides, the park features walk-around versions of both the US Muppets  and their Plaza Sesamo compatriots.
The park occassionally hosts celebrity events, with soccer stars, mayoral candidates, and other notables making appearances.

Perimagico- Mexico City
This unique amusement park is unique in that the 5000 sq. ft park is all indoors and located on the ground floor of the Perinorte Mall. One of the most popular rides is the steel rollercoaster, "Huracan" which is the Mayan word for hurricane. It is nice to have an indoor entertainment facility in this very large city where smog can prevent you from playing outdoors on certain days.


Selva Magica - Guadalajara
Selva Mágica is an amusement park near the Guadalajara Zoo. It has more than 30 rides and many other games and tests of skill. Selva Mágica also offers a performance area where five different types of show are held daily. The main attraction here is the Ferris wheel, Latin America's biggest. A Pasaporte Mágico, or day pass, is available at the entrance that includes admission to most rides and shows. Allow plenty of time when visiting the park, as it takes a whole day to make the most of its many attractions.

If you love movies you will love this theme park based on the movie industry. The park was built around the studio where James Cameron director of the movie Titanic built his sound stage for the blockbuster movie. The complex is located on 45 acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean, three miles south of Rosarito Baja California and 45 minutes south of San Diego. Foxploration is an exciting addition to Baja Studios, a one-of-a-kind movie park. Foxploration allows visitors to discover tricks of the film making process within the context of a working movie studio. Attractions include film sets, prop rooms and exhibits where visitors learn about the magic of movie making in an entertaining and interactive way. Also on display are original props, sets and costumes from the blockbuster film "Titanic" and other movies filmed at Baja Studios.

This series of waterparks in various locations across the Yucatan Region include
waterslides, snorkeling, swimming and scuba diving activities.  A unique feature of the park is their subsee explorer,  which allows visitors to experience complete submersion into the marine filled coral reefs in air-conditioned comfort!

Destination Atlantis - Isla Mujures

This unique and beautiful park shows that conservation, culture and entertainment can go hand in hand. The park features archaelological tours, a fine aquarium exhibit, swimming with the dolphin activities, under ground river adventures and a authentic mayan village to explore.


Go Karts - Cancun
This entertainment venue is for those who love to drive fast, Go Karts is a fun place to test your speed. The racetrack is located at kilometer 7.5 of the Puerto Morelos highway. There are events for children, with slower cars, and amateur tournaments. The facilities include a restaurant and parking for 1,000 cars. There is also another facility in Cozumel.

Cancun's only waterpark - the action packed Wet'n Wild Parque Nizuc Waterpark. The expansive 18-acre waterpark is located right on Cancun's hotel zone and has 9 awesome attractions that are great for guests of all ages.
